We are OH SOOO STYLIN'!
This is Becky our "glasses teacher". In the beginning she was the "gaggies Becky". Bo & Grace love Becky because she always gives them suckers. We get to visit her often for adjustments and repairs. I love Becky for educating me and being so patient and putting up with me! She has never given me bad advice when it comes to glasses. Becky please warn me if you ever plan to quit your job!!
Since I just started this blogging business I suppose I must back track a bit so your up to speed....it all started with Grace. She was quite, shall we say, non-GRACE-ful. She was just over a year old, I think 15 months. One day we were on the deck and she ran right into the table! I asked Derek if he's noticed what a clutz she was and told him I was a little worried about her. He said , "maybe she can't see!" DUH! Why had this thought never crossed my mind?! I made an appointment, the soonest they could get her in wasn't for about 6 weeks. During that time her eye began to turn in and by the time we got to the doctor it was very obvious. Turns out not only did she have a severe case of lazy eye but was far-sighted as well! So when people ask me how did I know she needed glasses......well here ya go!!
This is before surgery and after months of patching!
So obviously I'm told Grace needs glasses. I'm fine with that, she needs to be able to see! I try to get all excited and tell myself it will be ok, we'll get cute little pink ones, cute little oval shaped, maybe some little jewels on them and it will be fine. WRONG!! I quickly realize that the reason most little kids with glasses look like such nerds is not because parents don't love them it's because jewels are a choking hazard as well as lenses, which pop out often when the glasses are being worn by a one year old! I learn that not many companies make tiny glasses so your very limited to styles! I also learn that the cute narrow rectangle or oval shapes don't work because the lense has to cover the whole eye as much as possible or they just look around the lense! Oh yeah and if ya want to order the pink ones, well they are on backorder for who knows how long!!! So the whole cute glasses idea lasted for about 10 minutes in the car from the doctor to the glasses store! I was so bummed and here is the best we could possibly do and believe me I tried! We ended up with brown frames hoping pink frames would come in soon and if Bo needed some we'd use them for him. I hated them! Last but not least, baby glasses cost more because they have to be made good so they hold up and don't fall apart easy...again, the choking thing!
Grace's First (ugly brown) Glasses
I really REALLY tried (unsuccessfully) to get "CUTE"! The only cute part about it was after we picked them up my mom wanted to go buy her a new book (now that she could see it) and when we got out of the car a little gust of wind blew some little leaves and stuff across the pavement right by our feet. Grace looked down as it went by and yelled," WOW!!" We will never forget it.
His lazy eye seems to be getting worse!

Not just CUTE... Adorable!
I feel your pain. Been there done that. Actually, still doing it. I was afraid she would get beat up in boarding school if anyone saw her without her contacts in. Her eyes don't just cross, they move every which way but normal! The things we deal with!
I think Bo & Grace are beautiful 1st and last pair. With kids this cute, whose looking at the glasses?!
Too cute... I love the history behind the glasses... and the pictures are great... You are a great mom Jayme... I look up to you in more ways than you even know... Keep up the good work.
Love you
Shan
