eye exam anyone?

January 10th, 2011
....our small fortune....
.....are you ready becauseI am about to vent!
Bo & Grace each bring an envelope home from school.
In it is a letter stating that "Grace" & "Bo" did not pass the vision screening test at school.
NO SHIT!
Did this "screener" bother to look at them?!?!?! Did they not notice the $600 accessories on their faces???? By chance, did they notice the THICKNESS of the glasses??
Now, by law, as the letter states, I have to make sure to get them seen by a professional doctor for a complete eye exam. I have to have a doctor fill out the form & send it into the state of Utah.
Who's job is this? Seriously, I am floored.
It's not like you can just pop into Walmart & pick -up a pair without having been seen by a DOCTOR!! Not to mention the fact that they have combined probably had at least 50 eye exams!! They have 'been seen' since 15 months old by a professional & each have had an eye surgery!! They are on the 4th pair of glasses & we have had to increase the strength of each pair at least once. Each pair has cost roughly around $330 not counting all the co-pays & surgeries! I want you to know that is standard cost. Look at the dorky fisher-price ones. It's not like there are many choices out there for babies. I didn't pick expensive ones, they are expensive because they make them EXTRA durable so that they don't fall apart & babies choke on little pieces. The lenses are big to cover the eyes so they can't look over the top of the lenses. I didn't cut corners & they haven't had designer frames until recently. I couldn't wait for them to be old enough for cute glasses because we had to get the dorky pair for so long. Anyway, we (I) have invested a lot of time & money into them being able to see as best they can. The 4th pair aren't even in the picture because they WEAR THEM so they can see! The screener had hand written on the paper "could not read the bottom line with glasses on". Maybe he/she should have had them take the glasses off.....they may not have been able to read the top line!! How does this mean they need to see a doctor? Makes me feel like just because they can't see well, they have been neglected so "State Law requires" me to make an appointment, pay for TWO office visits, have form filled out, have doctor sign it, mail it into the state to prove they are being cared for?
grrrrrr.....makes me so mad!!!!!
Frustrated.
I threw both forms in the garbage.
When the State Eye Exam Police come haul me away, you'll know why.

p.s. I took this picture last night. Bo broke his glasses today. He always uses the warranty before Grace! Good thing he isn't getting screened at school with his old prescription!
